Introduction

After the war he became a professor at the University of Utrecht, Leuven and Harvard.

Publications about the Gospel of Thomas form the third thread in his work. #thread

Quispel foresees a positive revaluation of religion. Because humans are incurably religious.

His holy text: the story of the unjust tenants from the gospel of Thomas. #religion

What is the Thomas Gospel?

From Coptic translated and explained.

Belonging to a heretical direction of Christianity, the gnosis.

Contains only words from Jezus

No cross

No birth

No shepherds in the field

No cross, no death, no resurrection

Only words from Jesus

Annemiek: “Secret words?”

Esoteric! – They cannot be understood unless you have an inner connection and see the truth of it.

‘Gnostic’ is not a bad word!

The gospel is not Gnostic!

W(h)at is Gnosis?

Gnostics is a view that man is inwardly related to God and can therefore rise above the personal God to depth and silence. But this is just Jewish Judaic Christianity, proclaimed in Judea, the church of Jerusalem. For Paul

That is healing from The Gospel of Thomas. There is the tradition of the church of Jerusalem and how the Jewish Christians in Alexandria take the words of Jesus before Paul and his view of the Cross as the heart of the Gospel. That is the importance, according to me and many other investigators, that for the first time in 2000 years a tradition has been found of becoming Jesus, who are partly not in the gospels, if they are in the gospels they are never literally equal what is in the ecclesiastical gospel. But also that it contains words from Jesus that can be very real and that shed a new light on the historical Jesus.

Annemiek: What is that new light?

Wat is dat nieuwe licht?

A teacher of wisdom

According to the Gospel of Thomas, Jesus was primarily a teacher of wisdom. That is also true if you read well in the ecclesiastical gospel.

But here it is in particular that Jesus proclaims Divine redeeming wisdom.

Divine Redeeming Wisdom

Goddelijke Verlossende Wijsheid

Annemiek: ‘What is [that] divine wisdom?’

‘Wat is die goddelijke wijsheid?’

That man must turn himself after all and there he can find God.

How can it be explained that a boy from the kinderdijk, that he first discovers a gnostic codex, the so-called codex Jung, and then also publishes the Coptic gospel of Thomas. of which 100,000 copies have been sold in the Coptic count. It’s not that people didn’t realize it was important. Only certain people would not admit that. Because in the last 50 years the churches have focused on dogmatics that rejected every inner experience, every finding, every gnosis (acquaintances of the heart) to the muck heap.

The gnostic wave that is now there is a reaction to that, because people no longer want to be told by the Chancellor what to believe, but they want to experience it for themselves. I can see the sole measure as a privilege.

Also something that imposes obligations

Annemiek: “[Which]?”

[Which] [something that] imposes obligations
[something that] ‘people no longer want to be told by the Chancellor what to believe’

reason upwards

Well, for example, to make it known on television. If I don’t do it. Others speak of the Gospel of Thomas with a late attitude. There has been someone who says “it is a perversion of the sacred scripture.”

logion 65

A parable an image from daily life, seen with the sharp look of an innocent eye

You can read Dostovyetsky as detectives, as a psychological novel or as a proclamation of the arrival of a new Christianity.

I choose the historical context to show that the Gospel of Thomas indeed contains a tradition independent of the church.

I also think it is important to tell people today that they must be for peace.

My peace prince, you can command peace on earth and in my soul.

At the moment I think that is the message that has to go to the people. And don’t say that it is impractical. That is wisdom. It is wise to turn the other person’s cheek.

And that is also possible in politics. Just think of Luther King. And think about Ghandi. So, it is indeed a way of life.

But at the moment, with all those wars, if as a Christian you are not for peace now, and you take the lesson of peace and non-violence out of the parables, then I don’t really feel like it.

I hope to find the peace of heart that I find so necessary for humanity.

[MvA] or make it known on ‘not-so-social-media’?

Annemiek: “How does the early interest in gnosis relate to your Quispelturigheid? (capriciousness)

(wispelturigheid)

I leave the qualification to you.

I am therefore not inclined to accept the majority.

I like to use my own experience and insight.

And at the age of 88 I am not sorry.

Because it has brought me fruit, for example the gospel of Thomas.

Annemiek: “You have encountered a lot of resistance?”

Let’s not talk about that.

Annemiek: “You mean those people are dead, don’t you?”

‘Die mensen zijn toch dood bedoelt U?’

Yes, first of all, those people are dead. And in the second place, all that fuss about the gospel of Thomas has been for nothing. Because we can now prove, and that is what Jesus never called the Pharisees hypocrites. That is stated in the ecclesiastical (ecclesiastical (R)) gospels. And we can also prove that he never called himself the son of man, that is, the fearful world judge at the end of the worlds. I think that is a big profit for humanity.

The son of man, that is, God in the content of a man who pronounces the last judgment, and for which humanity has been like death, ..

Dies irae (Ecclesiastical Latin: [ˈdi.es ˈire]; “the Day of Wrath”) is a Latin sequence attributed to either Thomas or Celano or the Franciscans (1200 – c. 1265) or to Latino Malabranca Orsini

What fear will prevail when the judge comes, who will judge everything very strictly. There is no trace of this in the gospel of Thomas.

There Jesus speaks as the revelation of the mystery.

Dies irae (Ecclesiastical Latin: [ˈdi.es ˈire]; “the Day of Wrath”) is a Latin sequence attributed to either Thomas of Celano of the Franciscans (1200 – c. 1265) or to Latino Malabranca Orsini

Annemiek: “And what is that?”

Something.

I express that deliberately in a modern way, because contemporary people have recognized that it is a great blow in the air

And he can no longer fully believe in the man with the beard.

But he knows that there is something that is the origin of everything and gives meaning to existence.

’En wat is dat?’

Iets.

Annemiek: “And can a person find that in his own heart?”

He has to.

Annemiek: “And did you find it in your heart?”

When I was a teacher in Enschede, I experienced the worst things. First, there was a personal loss. Thanks to the occupier. Secondly, the English broke that city. And when I came to school, there were three empty places of students. Terrible

On the Lord’s day, those Englishmen came with their planes. And at the border they bumped into the anti-aircraft guns, there they were shot, and then you saw that plane fall like that. A gray line in the blue sky on the Lord’s day. Because when the sun was shining the planes came.

Then you saw those boys hanging on that parachute.

Or they fell dead.

Or they fell into the hands of the Germans and they finished them.

Then I had a very strong feeling. A crack runs through the universe. And then I opened up a feeling within myself, a source …

Yes

Who gives eternal life.

Yes, let’s just stick with it.

Well, we know that people are 90% consciously also unconscious. What riches are and can be found in that unconscious life, if you take your dreams seriously.

… and what is outside is me, his brain, also a self, a heart that is the center of the personality and from which the new life, that source is bubbling up, I am convinced of that. And every person can discover that in himself. If he doesn’t trust his brain, but his dreams, which keep him busy eight hours a day, if he takes them seriously. Jet is in the Bible.

Find God’s hidden association.

Urge to apply (the urge to assert [yourself])

Calling

God’s verborgen omgang vinden .

Geldingsdrang

Roeping

Every person has a calling

You also have to look ahead as you approach death.

I have never been afraid of death

Not even when I was under fire

Death no longer frightens me.

What remains is the finding. The gnostic experience.

LG2 Logion 2

I do believe that I have found peace.

I have been married to the same woman for 60 years.

Can you imagine the patience of this woman?

I was walking recently.

A woman got off her bicycle.

She said: “my husband and I read your book. My husband is blind and I read it to him. And I wanted to tell you that. “

That I can mean something at my age for other people and that they also show their affection. That makes me happy.

Imagine if someone is blind and finds comfort here in a book I brought from Egypt.

Hollanditis is the belief that a Dutchman cannot discover anything.

I came across a well-known scholar when I discovered codex Jung, who said, “I don’t have time!”

If this happens to the dry wood, what will happen to the good wood?

Love can only flourish in total openness to all that is. Only someone who makes peace with himself, stops fighting against himself, can achieve this openness. In practice, this means that one disarms oneself, takes off his armor, and is prepared to be touched, also through pain and sorrow. In the free space that this openness creates, love will present itself as a real human possibility. ” Bram Moerland is a Gnostic. In this episode of the Suspicion, he shows how modern the spiritual path of Gnosticism is to him. In Het Vermoeden, Annemiek Schrijver meets guests from various religious traditions and social backgrounds. Using their favorite ‘sacred text’ she talks to them about their inspiration and everyday spirituality. http: //www.hetvermoeden.tv/vermoedenU … http://www.brammoerland.com

Bram Moerland is gnosticus. I was born on the island of Tholen, in the village of Sint Annaland and my mother was a member of a reformed church, “the black stocking church.”

Not my father like that. My father was practically unbelieving. You have to go to church, you have to go to catechization, because that’s what your mother wants, but as far as I’m concerned, you don’t have to believe it. I am still very grateful to him for that. Because it gave me the freedom to listen to it freely. I heard it and I didn’t have to believe it. Delicious!

I thought, what are they talking about?
What would they have done?
I didn’t know that at all.
They did say they were bad and sinful, but what they had done exactly that was never mentioned.
I found that very strange.

Mijn vader was praktisch ongelovig.

I soon realized that something strange was going on in the community where I grew up. Because then when we went to church on Sunday, that man started to say that we all had done something terrible out there in that church. He spoke of our sins, our wickedness, and everything else that no longer exists. He prayed for forgiveness. It was really really awful with us. At least, with those people who were sitting in the church there. I thought, what are they talking about? What would they have done? I didn’t know that at all. They did say they were bad and sinful, but what they had done exactly that was never mentioned. I found that very strange. The strange thing was, I now remember that in the retrospect, there was also something tasty in it. They were also bidding against each other. One was even more sinful than the other. And I didn’t understand it. Then I came up with the idea that some sort of misunderstanding had occurred. I was born in a place on earth where I really didn’t belong, because everyone had done something, but I had done nothing. That was actually always clear to me. They were bad, they said so themselves, they apparently had done something, but I had done nothing. So it wasn’t about me. Of course I belonged to my family and I was happy in that family, but what happened in that village, I had nothing to do with that.

Annemiek: “I find it so strange. Because usually you hear that people who are raised in this way are fully convinced that they are bad to the bone. So you have felt like an outsider from an early age, or … ?”

?

I have sometimes called it a sweet loneliness.

Of course I belonged in a certain way. It was my family, it was my village. And that was not unpleasant.
Then something very dramatic happened in our family. My oldest sister had a child and he died. She had a second child and that child died within a year.
And then I heard a conversation between my mother and another woman from that church, and she was talking about God dealing with her, but she didn’t want to get to her knees.

So, the death of those children of my oldest sister, who also partly raised me, would have been caused by that God of those Christians. He would have exercised that as a punishment. And that was a very important point for me that I said: “I don’t want anything to do with this anymore. Here I break. Something is happening here that goes beyond my border. “So I consciously chose my sister.

?

No more Christianity for me. That was very clear.

I then started studying philosophy in Leiden. I have sucked myself up like a sponge, with all sorts of possible knowledge that was apparently just available. Because I only knew all those biblical stories. And there a world of different perspectives and cultures opened up for me. Extremely interesting. I was very interested, a kind of hobby, in stories about the Arthur tradition, Parzival. Someone told me that the Parzival would be a secret representation of the teachings of the Cathars. So I went to investigate who the Cathars were. A group of Christians from the 12th and 13th centuries .. I started reading books about it. To my extraordinary surprise and surprise. it turned out that they had ideas, although they called themselves Christians, who did appeal to me. So I met a form of Christianity there that I felt comfortable with. Where I didn’t have that old defense.

To begin with, Catharism was not a belief. And that was very special. You didn’t have to say; “I believe this or that.”

In traditional Christian churches, there is such a thing as a creed. At a certain point you say: “I believe this!”

And you believe that exactly like all other people, and for the rest of your life. So you establish a truth for your life, which you share with other people.

The second big surprise was that the Cathars had historical ties with the very first teachings in Christianity.

Namely with a lost current that we now call the Gnostic. Where I didn’t have that old defense.

Annemiek:

“Knowing, the inner knowing?”

Yes, the inner knowing. But your inner knowing is different from my inner knowing.

“Knowing, the inner knowing?”

Annemiek: “And that’s where you felt at home?”

So not with a belief that is the same for all people. But that you can go in a way to know a certain kind of thing, which is traditionally called divine, is just a word. The point is that we all have our own and personal destiny. And that we must make the most of it. That we have to grow with our talents.

You must be as you are, and I must be as I am, and that is where our destiny lies.

That is a very different approach.

?

All spiritual traditions, as a kind of foundation of that tradition, have an answer to suffering. Life hurts at times. Sometimes life is beautiful at the moment, but it can also hurt a lot. Think of my sister, that hurts.

All traditions, as a kind of foundation of such a tradition, provide an answer to suffering. Where is it from? Why is it there?

  • I noticed that there was a very specific kind of answer in Christianity.
  • In Hinduism you find that suffering comes from Karma in the past life.
  • In the Chinese tradition, suffering comes from a disturbance of the cosmic balance.
  • All kinds of traditions have an answer to why there is suffering. Suffering has a cause. And that cause actually always lies in the person himself. You have done something wrong, you have gone astray, … there is a cause and you are to blame for that. A whole range of explanations.

Now,
In the gospel
So those scribes come to Jesus and show him a blind young man and ask him: “Why is this young man blind? Is that because of his own sins? Or is that because of the sins of his parents? ”

Then Jesus says, “Neither because of his own sins, nor because of the sins of his parents.”

That is very unique.

The answer to suffering is not an explanation, so that you can do something with it. Actually indirectly an accusation.

So there is no answer.

  • In fact, Jesus does give an answer to how to deal with suffering, namely not the theory of suffering, but mercy. That is very unique. That is a very unique story within all those spiritual traditions around the world.
  • There is no cause for suffering.
  • There is no theory about suffering
  • Suffering requires mercy.

Then you read the story of the merciful samaritan in the New Testament. That tells the story that someone is creating along the way. And then a high priest comes along. He has studied theology, so he has his own thoughts on that, … God is concerned with those people, they are sinners, so they continue.
Then comes a samaritan. That is someone who was at the bottom of the social ladder. Has not studied theology, does not belong.

So has no explanation of the lead. But see what happens there. See that suffering and do something, help, act, mercy.

The answer to suffering, insofar as you as a person should seek an answer to this, is the courage to be present empty-handed in the suffering of a fellow human being, for example.

Without theory, without a story, without “death-doers” having the courage to be present at the suffering of fellow human beings.

Nu,

Annemiek: “Can you do that?”

‘Kun jij dat?’

I think so. Yes

Jesus on the cross. Who would have paid for our sins. I have nothing with that.

I know that for many people that is an extremely important meaningful image, but someone who goes on the cross for my sins is not necessary. My sins are my sins. And if I have to pay for it, I do it myself. That good man doesn’t have to do that at all. And so, I have nothing with that. For me, that helmet means nothing. So that is not a meaningful picture for me.

When I travel through Europe and see a church tower, I actually always go into it. And what I often see is that there is a Maria statue somewhere in a corner and that there are candles. And often that is the real devotional place of a church. There is the pulpit where the explanations are given, stories are told, … fine…

But the real devotion is often found in the Maria statue.

I sometimes wonder why that is so. Why does Maria appeal to so many people? Regardless of whether it existed or not? That doesn’t matter to me. That statue of Mary that stands for something.

These are mainly the empty hands.

“Dare to be present empty-handed, in the suffering of your fellow man.”

Where the statue of Mary is important to me. Maria suffered. You can lead me, with your sorrow, to mother Maria. It stands there and receives you. He has no explanation, no theory. You are welcome, you are embraced, welcomed, invited to be present with your suffering as well. She won’t judge you for that.

Dat denk ik wel. Ja

Annemiek: ‘So you also allow suffering?’

‘Je laat dus het lijden ook toe?’

I think it goes even further. In the Gnostic tradition, there is certainly one of the main considerations that you can find a way to God within.

God is something you can experience here. You can also call it the source. Call it nature, cosmos … It’s just a word.

But what those words are about, you can make contact with that in yourself in a certain way.

You can also find that source of all being in yourself. You can be a true and authentic person yourself, and in truthfulness and in your authenticity, so if you coincide with yourself, then you are as it were connected to that source.

And you can only do that in openness.

You cannot do that on condition.

Then you must be willing to take reality as it is, as it presents itself, in its entirety., With all its sides, white and black, dark and clear, to be willing to let it be.

What Jesus says (about man is bad or not):

You can only be a merciful person if you do not belong.

Let us take the example of the struggle between the Palestinians and the Jews. Jews have an image of themselves. They belong to something. The image of the Jew is accompanied by the image of the Palestinian. The image of the Jew belongs to the image of the Palestinian.

They are together in a kind of magic circle. In a circle of violence. One bomb justifies the next. And that is justification for that other bomb, etc. That is a chain of violence. Violence has its own logic. Violence creates violence, hatred creates hatred. So those are the infinite chains of violence.

And Jesus says, “So you have to get out of that.”

So if he says, if you are hit on one cheek, then turn the other. You could say that one cheek is being Jewish (or Palestinian) and the other is being my human.

Jews and Palestinians are both human. And as a human being with people, the logic of violence disappears.

So if you want to be able to have mercy, you have to free yourself about the ideas that you are about who you are and what you belong to. It is precisely that freedom, the message that you can be a free person, that is access to mercy.

Annemiek: “In fact you say you can always renew yourself?”

Exactly! Then you do not have to worry about the day of tomorrow with which you will dress.

In the Gnostic tradition they all use symbolic words such as, child, blind and dead … but also “robe”.

The word rug symbolizes meaning. The meaning of today is the spiritual prison of tomorrow.

If you are willing to be touched by what is taking place around you. Then in the moment in the here and now, you can let the answer be born.

And if that matches something, not with the idea in the world, but with something in yourself. That is the creation of that day. Then that is what you put on that day.

In the evening you have to take off your clothes, and the next morning you will have different clothes on.

It our father ….

Jesus spoke Aramaic

I am not concerned about who is right. What matters is what the text does to me.

The Aramaic Our father starts with an exceptionally beautiful sentence … I think.

Source of being that I meet in what moves me.

So your compassion, in what takes place around you, meets with something that is bigger than yourself. Something that can bind us, something that goes beyond personality.

That gives a whole new entry to the reading of old religious texts. Maybe we should read old texts differently.

Take the creation story.

If you read those old texts, people sometimes get an AH erlebnis.

So from … But I had known that for a long time, oh of course it is like that. But that’s right, I know that. So it fits in with a spiritual sensitivity present in people.

And I think that’s the way it is meant to be.

And if it wasn’t meant to be, then I’d like it to be.

Precies!

Misschien moeten we oude teksten anders lezen.

Annemiek: “What are you actually doing here on this globe.”

I would not know, but I notice that I am here. And I’m not alone.

There is no user manual …

Many people think that it is a manual …

I do not know

Maybe that’s not a bad thing at all.

So if there is no given sentence in advance, then I am invited as a person, because I do want to live a meaningful life, I think we all have that, a need to live a meaningful life, man invited to give meaning to my life in that emptiness itself.

I am not alone and at some point I have written down my experiences and ideas, and that seems to affect other people. To my great surprise, a circle closes with that.

On the island of Tholen, I didn’t belong there, I said. I got out of it, and I went my own way. And damn say, suddenly I am completely occupied with Christianity. That is a very strange course of events.

But in a very different way. And what is now the astonishing thing, looking back at my own biography, that the reason that I got out of it, that death of my sister’s children. That compassion therefore. and my choice therein, from there I want nothing to do with it, that suddenly it is meaningful. become in my later life. To deal with that in a certain way, and not just to express that as my point of view, but to discover that I think that the historical Jesus intended precisely that. Mercy and not theology.

Annemiek: “So you carry those dead children with you?”

They have played an extremely important role in my life, because they have placed me before that choice. The one I join, I don’t join. No I don’t participate.

And in a hidden, unplanned way, I suddenly participate.
(In a way it is meant for.)

I realize that for many people, death is a fearful black hole.
To my great regret, I have to admit that the Christianity that I have come to know has contributed to a great extent to stir up that fear of death.
I don’t have that fear of death, I don’t know it.

I have been on earth for a while, but who is actually on earth?
I don’t see myself as Bram Moerland in the first place, but as part of life. When we die, a form is gone.

Life has chosen a form for a certain time, such as a flower ,. I was a flower like that too. And I have flowered, may I hope, and I have been the flower that I intended to be.

As a rose you can try to be a tulip and as a tulip to be a rose.

That form disappears, but life goes on.

Annemiek: “Suppose you were to die, what would come to your grave now?”

The kingdom is spread over the earth.
but the humans don’t see it.
Het koninkrijk is uitgespreid over de aarde.
maar de mesen zien het niet.

LG2 Second promise: You will be like a King

Jesus said:
Let he who searches continue searching
until he finds
and when he finds
he will be shocked
and being shocked
he will wonder
and he shall be king over the All.
And as king he will regain his peace.

LG3 The Kingdom is in your Heart

Jesus said:
If your prophets say:
Behold, the kingdom is in heaven.
then birds will lead you.
When they say: It is in the sea,
then fishing will lead you.
But the kingdom is in your heart
and in your eye.
If you know yourself,
then you will also be known,
and you will realize
that you too are a child of the living father.
But don’t you know yourself?
then you are in poverty.
Then you are poverty yourself.

LGZes Be true to yourself: (“Don’t do what you hate”)

His students questioned him and said to him:
Do you want us to fast?
Shall we pray?
Do we give alms?
Which foods should we refrain from?
Jesus said:
Don’t tell lies,
Don’t do what you hate
because in the light of heaven everything is visible.
What you hide will be discovered
and what you cover
appears.

LG8 Love leaves no room for fear; perfect love excludes fear

And he said:
Man is like a wise fisherman
who threw his net into the sea,
and it retrieved from the sea, full of small fish from the depth.
In the midst of them
the wise fisherman thought a large, beautiful fish.
He threw all the small fish back into the sea
and chose the big fish without hesitation.
He who has ears to hear, let him hear!

LG9 Words like(/as) seed of recognition

Jesus said:
Behold, the sower went out,
took a handful of seeds and scattered them around.
Some fell on the road;
the birds came and collected them.
Others fell on a rock
and did not take root in the earth
and no spikes rose.
And others fell between thorns;
they choked the seeds
and the worms ate them.
And others fell in fertile soil,
they rose up, bearing good fruit.
The harvest was sixty per size
and one hundred and twenty per size.

LG11 The Source is also looking for your

Jesus said:
This heaven will pass,
and he that is above shall pass away.
and those who are dead do not live,
and those who live will not die.
When you ate what is dead,
you brought it to life.
If you will stand in the light,
what are you doing then?
When you were one
you made the two.
But, on the other hand, if you are two,
what do we do then

LG12 Heaven and earth are made for you – Source within

The disciples said to Jesus:
We know you will leave us sometime.
Who will stand above us?
Jesus said to them:
Wherever you are,
go to James the Righteous
heaven and earth were made for his sake

LG13 Mastery is aside from dogmas and doctrine

Jesus said to his disciples:
Compare me to someone
and tell me who i look like.
Simon Peter said to him:
You look like a just angel.
Matthew said to him:
You look like a wise philosopher.
Thomas said to him:
Master, my mouth does not allow me
to say who you look like.
Jesus said:
I am not your master.
Because you have been drinking,
did you get drunk from the spring
I showed you.
And he took him aside
and withdrew with him, and spoke three words to him.
When Thomas returned to his companions,
they asked him:
What did Jesus say to you?
Thomas said to them:
If I tell you one of the words he told me,
you will pick up stones
and throw at me:
a fire will come from the stones
and you burn.

LG14 Be open to the person behind the words

Jesus said to them:
If you fast, you make yourself sinful,
and when you pray, you call judgment upon you,
and if you give alms, you harm your spirits.
If you go to some country and travel there
through those regions, and you will be received somewhere,
then eat what they will put before you,
and take care of the sick among them.
Because what enters your mouth won’t make you unclean,
but what leaves your mouth – that will make you unclean.

LG16 The dream of unity that destroys itself

Jesus said:
People may think I came
to bring peace to the world.
They do not know that I have come
to sow divisions in the world:
fire, sword and war.
Because there will be five in a house,
three will be against two, and two against three.
The father against the son, the son against the father.
And they will stand like loners.

LG18 Characters [SIGNS] of the indescribable

The students asked Jesus:
Tell us, the end, what will it be like?
Jesus said:
Have you already discovered the beginning,
so that you now also want to know the end?
Now where the beginning is
there will also be the end.
Fortunately he who is standing in the beginning
He will know the end
and do not taste death.

LG19 The creative power in humans

Jesus said:
Blessed was he who was before he was there.
If you become my students and
listen to my words,
the stones will serve you.
Because there are five trees for you in paradise
that remain unchanged, summer and winter,
and whose leaves do not fall off.
Whoever gets to know them will not taste like death.

The original Jesus prayer in the translation of
Bram Moerland

Het oorspronkelijke Jezus-gebed in de hertaling van
Bram Moerland

The original Jesus prayer in the translation of
Bram Moerland

Source of Being, which I meet in what moves me,
I give you a name so that I can give you a place in my life.
Bundle your light in me – make it useful.

Establish your empire of unity now,
your only desire then acts together with ours.
Feed us daily with bread and with insight.
Loosen the strings of mistakes that bind us to the past,
so that we can also forgive others their mistakes.
Don’t let superficial things mislead us.

From you is born:
the idle will,
the living force to act,
and the song that beautifies everything,
and renews itself from century to century.

[from dutch from italian from japanese from chinese from russian from french from spanish from german from english from dutch]

The sources I found were the impulse to help me move forward
I’ll give you your name.
Collect your light on me to make it useful.

So build a UK,
So his only hope was to work with us.
Give bread and ideas every day
Determine the consequences of mistakes that have bound us in the past.
To allow the mistakes of others.
Don’t be fooled by superficial things.

You were born:
The will is positive
Vitality of the action
And decorate everything
It has been constantly updated for a century.

The re-translation of the Jesus prayer that you find here is closer to the prayer originally spoken by Jesus in Aramaic than the “Our Father” as it has been handed down in the ecclesiastical tradition.
God, as the source of all being, is not here in heaven, as in the ecclesiastical “Our Father” but in the heart of man, the hallmark of Gnostic Christianity from the first centuries. This Jesus prayer especially emphasizes the original unity between God and man, and it wants to confirm or restore that unity where it has been disturbed.

When we are touched in our hearts by what surrounds us in the here and now, nature, the cosmos and our fellow human beings, it is an intimate encounter with the ubiquitous divine.
The encounter with the divine in the here and now is also in agreement with God as “the Present” in the Old Testament.
The opening sentence in the Latin version ‘Our father who is in the heavens’ does not fit in the Jewish world of imagination at the time, but was later created under the influence of the Greek dualistic philosophy, which made God transcendent, ‘completely different’, far superior to the earthly reality. It is unlikely that Jesus knew that, let alone shared it.

1 writing

13 codices

With 52 writings

Contains only words from Jezus

No cross

No birth

No shepherds in the field

No cross, no death, no resurrection

Only words from Jesus

Annemiek: “Secret words?”

Esoteric! – They cannot be understood unless you have an inner connection and see the truth of it.

Logos 2
